Remove animation from Firefox sidebar

2026-11-06

This is a quick one that goes along nicely with the previous post about Firefox’s tab sidebar.

By default there’s almost half a second between hovering the tab bar and it being fully visible, so let’’s get rid of that.

Head to about:config, and set:

• sidebar.animation.enabled to false
• sidebar.animation.expand-on-hover.delay-duration-ms to 0

By default, the hover delay is 200ms, so we remove that. The default animation duration is also 200ms, so turning that off makes it considerably faster to display.
